Today I was working with Naomi who is a fashion stylist but has done a large range of other career paths including dancing & modelling. We was working from our 50 designs we was previously set for homework on Monday. The homework consistent of us using the theme to design 50 garments in our sketch book by today.
What we was told to do today was to pick garments from our 50 designs to make a five piece collection, making sure each piece interlinked with each other showing a story. After picking out my final five outfits we had to then draw front and back views of each piece using colour, but not forgetting we can only use one colour ( in different shades) for our final outcome from this whole project. So this meant that these designs should also be in one colour so I can start thinking about colour plates.
This has been one of my most enjoyable days because of the love I have for styling and designing and this task was a mixture of both. Although it was intensive and very fast past I was still able to keep up. I decided to use the colour green for my final collection as I was looking at a banana leaf and the structure of the leaf. I wanted to keep within the nature theme rather that using a less obvious colour such as pink for a juxtaposition. I used water colours as it was the only media I had with me and I also find it very quick and easy to work with. I found my image of the banana leaf from my book when looking for images for my structure concept board, so when I was looking for inspiration for my designs I knew it would be perfect !
To sum up today in one work I would say " interesting".
