First Steps

Today we was exploring the basics of Photoshop as a lot of the class were beginners like me. We went through the basics of Photoshop going through the tools and then we started creating repeat patterns. The objective of this lesson was to be able to create our own repeat patterns by Friday using our new found skills thinking of structural attachment in the singular. I learned today that my artwork/ commercial work should always be at 300dpi, how to make layers, how to unlock layers and how to half drop repeat.

We looked at some designers and their use of repeat patterns in their work. Some of the designers that I really loved were Preen by Thornton Bregazzi SS2015, Chris Topher Kane's jumper which had an artist feel using paint brush strokes making it look alive and real and lastly Mendal which used a different type of fiber to print on.

 I really enjoyed this lesson as I felt I leaned a lot and we was in an relax atmosphere. However I found it hard to keep up as I felt out tutor was going very fast and spoke very low although mentioning this a few times by other people. I was not the only one who felt this way so most of of decided to go at our own pace, helping each other and we still complete the task on time. Out tutor was very helpful if needed so by coming to everyone in the class after explaining the steps to see if anyone needed help or was having difficulties. I'm going to use today and tomorrow to practice the new skills I've learned as I know I'll be needing it.
