Today was the first day of our accessory workshop and we was previously told to bring in a range of objects that we can work with to produce an accessory. I took a trip to the 99p store and bought a range of things keeping in mind that I'm trying to make an accessory so I had to ensure the things I bought could be worked with. I also found a range of things in my house and on my way to uni as I wanted some organic objects such as leaves as it fits with my theme.
I found it hard to start the actual process as I didn't know what to do with my objects for my technique samples. This task was meant for me to explore a range of technique samples which I may use in my final accessory. Once I started to understand that what my tutors wanted me to do was not to make little cute accessorize but experiment, I found the process a little easier. I feel like I was able to see what my different objects could produce and how each of them work together giving me different design ideas in my head. I asked one of my tutors and some of my peers their opinions and also asked them to pick which concept they liked best and nearly all of them said they liked the one where I used blue straws and tied them together with string. Using this information I'm going to produce same developments in my book to try and explore the concept further. Overall I've leant today that I have to think outside the box in order to produce something unique and successful.

I would say my most successful piece was the blue straws as when I wanted to develop each of my ideas it was very easy to development my original concept and the development for this just flowed out of my head which I think shows how successful that concept was. I think near to the end I got lazy with my ideas which I think shows in my last two final outcomes, this was because I wanted to rush to ensure I had as close to five final concepts in the time given which was about an hour. What I found hard was trying to find was to combine my objects together using the tools I had and was available to me. I mostly used string to tie together objects and pieces, as I felt that was the strongest option aside from using the glue gun however it was very time consuming.
Now I've produced four concepts I'm going to develop and explore my favorites and use that to start thinking of the accessory I want to produce. I can see why we had to do this task today as it helped me to start thinking of initial ideas and explore what I can and cant do with my objects. It also made me rethink any original ideas I had started to think of in the beginning for my accessory which I think is it good thing.
